In the last few posts we’ve simplified the art of listening with two easy questions. We’ve talked about the example Sam Walton and Bernie Marcus set when it comes to “walking the stores” of our own lives. And today we’re going to flip things one more time.
Although I’m not sure anyone can really “own” a bee, I do keep them in my yard. Like a living garden, they grow and change and to me, reveal God’s handiwork. And sometimes, they even teach me a little about teamwork.
It’s always tempting to write more than you should on a blog. There’s no paper or ink or printing charges or delay between what you think and what you post.
But sometimes, some days, the best thing you can do is simply say what you need to say and get out of the way.

I love the band, “Earth, Wind & Fire.” For years, if not decades, they’ve been one of my favorite groups and recently I had the chance to see them. And not just see them, but actually play with them. I brought my trumpet on stage and checked off a big item from my bucket list.

If you ever attended college, you know how special it was to get mail. Someone out there cared. Mail day was a great day indeed.
But one day, it wasn’t.
Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with a young photographer. After a quick meeting, we wrapped everything up to move about on our individual ways. But before we did, I gave her one final piece of deep wisdom:
“Make sure there’s film in your camera.”

This week I had an all day meeting. Now for some people, that might sound a little like torture. But this meeting was different. In this session, we didn’t just have a meeting, we looked into the future.
I love a good baseball game. Regarded as our nation’s pastime, there are few better ways to pass a warm summer day. The crowds are excited, the atmosphere is electric and the park practically buzzes with each pitch. All in all, it’s a really enjoyable experience.
