Keeping My #1 Customer # 1
I love Chick-fil-A customers. For decades, they’ve been part of my extended family and I always consider it a great honor to spend time with them. But sometimes, in my efforts to give everything I have to Chick-fil-A, I only bring leftovers home for my wife. And for some reason, that just doesn’t sit too well with Rhonda.
Two weeks ago I camped out over night with a few customers. It’s a tradition at Chick-fil-A and it’s one I really enjoy being a part of. The next day, when I got home, I was tired, dirty and apparently a little too curt. After giving a short, less than kind-hearted answer to a question from Rhonda, she was quick to remind me of a simple truth. Here is what she said:
“You can go around with all these customers all you want, but remember your #1 customer is waiting at home.”
She was right. With all the opportunities and challenges we each face when we walk out the front door, it’s easy to forget who our #1 customers are. Thank goodness for the people in our lives who love us enough to set things straight.
Thanks, Rhonda, for always being my #1 Customer!
Who’s your #1 customer?

Well let’s just say this, God is number one first and foremost in my life. It is interesting that you pointed this out, due to the fact soooooo many people do the SAME EXACT thing to our Lord! Folks go out give give give spend spend spend take take take, work work work, to the point they are overly exhausted and give the Lord the leftovers if they give him anything at all!
I used to be one of these people! I spent sooo much time working with no focus on family or even the Lord. During this terrible recession of course my life has changed dramatically. I found that the actual God I was serving was the God of money but I was blinded at the time of doing so. Well with all false idols they tend to fumble all my false securities went away. Now I am left like a prodigal child running back to her daddy. While waiting for an employer to hire me again, I am now spending time with the Lord first and foremost, then my family, then all the wonderful opportunities at my church as a volunteer to help our community. I may be poor in the wallet area, but I am rich in the gifts of the Lord!
God Bless you and your family this Christmas!
My #1 is also my wife. Of course she is also my number #1.
Thank you for sharing with us.
Brian
Such a great reminder!
I have not been married as long as you and Rhonda have, but I have certainly been guilty of pouring myself out for other people so much that there is very little left for my husband. Having encountered that mistake, we are very intentional about guarding our marriage!
He is my #1 everything, and I’m glad to give him my best!
